Our mission is to build a collective of neighbors dedicated to the care, archiving, and enjoyment of Horsepen Creek and it's surrounding "NeighborWoods". We seek to engage our community through cleanups, education, and social events that highlight the creek and the surrounding areas ecological offerings. Through the City of Greensboro's Adopt-a-Stream program, we have adopted almost 3 miles of the creek, flowing from Flemming Road to Battleground (Hwy 220). We hope you will join us in celebrating and caring for the surrounding "NeighborWoods" and Horsepen Creek.
When neighbors come together, whether it’s for a cleanup, a conversation, or a shared project, it builds trust, strengthens relationships, and makes where we live better for everyone.
Neighborhood-based, small scale actions, done together, create real impact.
Horsepen Creek is an 8.87 mile long tributary of Reedy Fork Creek. Its headwaters begin near the southwest edge of PTI Airport. It is composed of mostly surface and ground water as it continues to flow until reaching Lake Brandt. We couldn't adopt it all, but maybe with the help of you we can expand our efforts. Currently we are asking selected neighborhoods within the section of the creek's watershed, which we have currently adopted, to consider joining in this effort (See annotated map below). However, we are open to anyone joining who is interested in community and doing some good work, regardless of where you live.
